Setting Our Intentions & Setting the Container
In our first session, we'll work together to define your parenting goals and envision the life you want to create as a parent. We'll also clarify the distinction between coaching and therapy, ensuring you understand how this program can best support you on your parenting journey.
Understanding Generational Patterns
In this session, we'll explore how your own upbringing shapes your current parenting style, identifying inherited patterns that may not serve you well in moments of rupture and repair. Together, we'll focus on building skills like co-regulation, patience, and compassion during challenging times. We'll also dive deeply into the 10 pillars of transformational parenting to guide your growth and development as a parent.
Understanding Our Need for Connection
In this session, we'll focus on recognizing and validating your own needs for connection, helping you gain a deeper understanding of your child's emotional needs. We'll also cover key skills for thoughtfully responding to those needs, rather than reacting impulsively. Additionally, we'll explore the four attachment styles in detail, examine your own attachment style, and discuss how it influences your relationship with your child.
Understanding Emotional Regulation
In this session, we'll delve into the basics of brain and nervous system science, focusing on the areas responsible for emotional regulation. By building a solid understanding of self-regulation techniques, you'll learn how to maintain your own calm and stability, enabling you to co-regulate with your child during moments of emotional dysregulation and be the steady harbor for our children to anchor to in moments of their dysregulation.
Understanding Our Mindset & Mindsight
In this session, we'll take a closer look at your thought patterns during key interactions with your child. Are you more focused on solutions or stuck on the problem during moments of conflict? Using mindsight, we'll work on attuning to your child's inner world, helping you understand their perspective through enhanced self-reflection and self-awareness.
Understanding Emotions
In this session, we'll focus on gaining a deeper understanding of emotions and how they shape communication. We'll explore common communication patterns that may hinder the expression of your true feelings and experiences. By identifying core emotions and learning to differentiate between thoughts and feelings, you'll strengthen your emotional intelligence and learn practical steps to foster the same growth in your child.
Understanding Communication
In this session, we'll explore the idea that all behaviors, both yours and your child's, are attempts to meet underlying needs. Using this perspective, we'll introduce the principles of non-violent communication and work on developing your ability to hold space for meaningful, sometimes difficult, conversations. You'll gain and practice the skills necessary to have empowered, compassionate discussions with your child.
Understanding Boundaries
In this session, we’ll start by clearly defining what boundaries are—and what they are not—while learning how to effectively communicate them. We’ll discuss who boundaries are meant for, how to handle situations when they aren't respected, and how to honor others' boundaries while maintaining safety. Together, we'll identify non-negotiable boundaries, as well as explore which rules or limits can be more flexible and when it's appropriate to let them go.
Understanding Rituals and Routines
Rituals and routines in your empowered parenting journey are going to be YOUR anchor. "In this session, we’ll explore their importance as the foundation of your empowered parenting journey, helping you and your family stay grounded. We’ll work together to create rituals that align with your unique needs and incorporate them your new or already existing routines. Lastly, we’ll focus on recognizing and embracing anger, and how to transform it into ‘healthy aggression’ to channel it constructively.
Understanding Importance of Play
In this session, we'll focus on discovering your unique parenting play style. We'll explore the various forms of play, recognizing that your playfulness doesn't have to mirror your child's to be meaningful. Together, we'll discuss the essential role of play in fostering connection with your child and identify the styles that feel most authentic to you. Additionally, you'll learn how storytelling can create a safe space for your child to navigate complex thoughts and emotions, enhancing their understanding and expression.
Reflection & Resources
In our penultimate session, you'll reflect on your parenting journey from our first meeting to the present. Together, we’ll identify the practices and approaches that have been most effective for you and discuss why they resonate. We’ll emphasize the importance of celebrating your successes and progress. This session will also provide a valuable opportunity to let go of strategies that aren’t serving you, while exploring additional resources to help you continue on your path of growth.
Reviewing your Transformative
In our final session, we'll reflect on your transformation through your child's perspective, as well as how your self-perception as a parent has evolved. We'll discuss the role you have embraced for your child and collaboratively map-out your personalized empowered parenting guide.
Finally, we’ll explore the long-term benefits of sustaining your conscious parenting practices as you and your child continue to grow together.
